I have been a parrot head all my life but I just joined the Tampa Bay Parrot heads. I've been having a great time.
My question for you is .. What's up with this MOTM ??? I've never been to Key West and I want to go this year . What do I have do and what should I expect???

Welcome to the party and being with the Greatest People In The World. I am sure that as a new member you have been to a cleanup and the " after party" .
You ask about MOTM . This is the National Convention of Parrot heads that converge on Key
West from all over the USA and other countries as well .
It is a four day long adult libation, lawn sitting, bands listening , cousin reunions , sunset watching ,eating breakfast ( if you can wake up that early ) at Blue Heaven Rendezvous with the cats and the roosters, doing the Duval Crawl , sitting at Capt. Tony's Bar and this year " Missing you so badly" hearing the rumors that Jimmy's in town , wearing your Kenos , looking for Louie's Back Yard ,wearing your colors and meeting up in Sloppy Joes , getting to sit out front of Ricks and watch the parrot heads pass by , and ending up with phriends for life.
So Sandy, just go and perhaps you might write me again with your perceptions of
"What's up with MOTM"

Dear Queen Vera,
I love Jimmy Buffett's music and just became a member of The Tampa Bay Parrot Head Club.
There seems to be so many different things going on . Can you suggest to me where I should begin?

There is no need in " trying to fit in". You " fit in" when you walked thru the door. You became a member of a phamily of cousins . Our common link is Jimmy's music . We stayed because of the love and phriendship most of us have found.
You asked " where should I begin"??? Sign up for the beach cleanups. There's always a party after so just show up !! There are plenty of events scheduled SOOOO ... find what you like , sign up......then Show Up!!!!

There is a Phabulous Event coming up soon that would be a perfect place to get started. It's
"The Tampa Bay Phins Up Phrolic" being held on May 8 - May 10th. You may register on the web site .
Perhaps, Trying to Fit In, You just may " earn " yourself a nickname at The Phins Up Phrolic

The only problem that I can see is that you are perching up the wrong tree.
Birds of a feather always phlock together. Date within your own species and unruffle those feathers. Perhaps you will make a nest with your new found pheathered phriend
