We want more. Tell us when you became a Parrothead and why you joined the TBPH club—
Well… When I first moved to Florida, I got a job at Paradyne. There, I met a man named Bob Barker. I proceeded to work with him on a programming project, and we became friends. Well, ol’ Bob told me about a group of people called “Parrotheads”, who listened to Jimmy Buffett music (Jimmy who???) and helped the environment, and went to meetings, and had a blast. (I thought he was some kind of cult freak and forgot about it. Still a nice guy).
I left Paradyne after that and about a year later, Loni and I went to a party on Pier 60. There we met Lori and Axl at a tiny Parrothead recruiting booth. They told us all about the club. We were curious, and we went to a meeting. We had such a blast that we joined that night, and haven’t looked back since.
The end of this tale, my friends, is that I met ol’ Bob at a Parrothead party about 3 months later. But it wasn’t ol’ Bob, but Papa Smurf instead!! I walked up to him with a huge grin and said, “Remember me?” He smiled back and said “I knew you would make it here someday”. Wise ass. ;-)
