Parrot Head Profile |
![]() |
| Name: | Rob McNeal |
| You know me as: | Captn Rob, but you probably don't know me now that I moved south to Sarasota...hard to make the meetings. Old timers like Vera, McGill, Harry, Mikeeeee, Cheryl...they know me. We come up for meetings when we can, usually when we know it's a really good meeting...like the one before the concert. I am still an official member of TBPHC. |
| Marital Status: | married, wife Brenda the Blonde stranger |
| Member since: | 1996 |
| Flocked from: | Brandon, when I lived near Tampa. Originally Colorado, then Cocoa, Florida. |
| Favorite Jimmy Buffett Tune: | Its gotta be a tie. All us old guys really relate to Pirate reaches 40 but I also melt for One Particular Harbor which makes me think of Rock Harbor in Key Largo and lately It's 5 O'Clock Somewhere...for obvious reasons. And I almost forgot God's Own Drunk. AND the best song in cocert has got to be Southern Cross but that one isn't really Jimmy's song. |
| Favorite Jimmy Buffett CD: | Avoiding that question which would show my lack of album knowledge....notice I said album instead of CD? How about Greatest Hits? |
| Other Music: | I'm an old rocker, Stones, Who, Airplane, etc but better than that .....Jim Morris, Sunny Jim, Kelly McGuire, Scott Kirby, Hugo Duarte, John Frinzi, Matt Hall...the real beauty of this thing we call parrotheads is all the "other" great musicians and music I now have that I wouldn't have known about otherwise. |
| Hobbies: | Some time ago I had a revelation one day...idiot, you live in Florida and all you take advantage of is sailing (at the time). So I got a fishing boat, certified to Dive. Now we're up to 3 sailboats and 2 powerboats....and 2 little maniacs called dogs. |
| What Do You Drink?: | The Captain is always with me but I have been known to appreciate a cold beer on occasion. Depends on the event. Like if a potty is handy or NOT. |
| Likes: | partying with a Purpose. Especially if it involves water. Flat calm makes me head for the fishing boat. A sunny breezy day makes us think about sailing. |
| Dis-likes: | windy cold days, snow...unless we're skiing! |
| Favorite Buffettism: | I'll take a couple weeks off and try to recall the whole year....OR referring to trailer parks...I wish a summer squall would blow them all on up to fantasyland, they looked a lot better as beer cans. |
| We want more... Tell us when you became a parrothead and why you joined the TBPH club: | |
|
In 1996 I went thru a bad breakup
and my friend Hurricane Floyd hooked me up with the TBPHC. He was a
long time member since moved to Satellite beach. My first club event
was the MOTM in New Orleans...last one that wasn't in Key West. It
was quite the blowout even for that point in time. The convention
center was under the Riverwalk mall and the mall had a Daiquirri
bar. The rest is history. I met Robert Greenidge and Mike Utley
there. Saw A1A (I think) play Sat nite with Robert and Mike jumping
in. After that I wouldn't miss another one and they've gotten even
better every single year. In 1975 I saw Jimmy play the USF soccer
field....with a cast and his only hit at the time was Come Monday.
Admission was $1 and it was freezing...we all brought out blankets
that nite. If I only knew!!!
